Gulli Briem Biography
Gulli is born in Reykjavik, Iceland. Starting out in the kitchen as a kit hitting all the pots and pans, he soon found himself behind a real drumkit at the loft of his family house.
In high school he met bass player Johann Asmundsson, with whom he teamed up with keyboard player Eythor Gunnarsson and Guitar player Frederik Karlsson. The four of them formed “Mezzoforte” (1977) and from 1982 onwards they toured internationally with the group. In 1983 the group hit the UK charts with “Garden Party” from the “Surprise, Surprise” album.
Gulli also has a side project named Earth Affair, where he writes the music. The first album was released in 2004 (Chapter One), and in 2006 he took the band and performed at Nelson Mandela’s 46664 awareness concert in Tromsø, Norway, along with Robert Plant, Annie Lennox, Brian May and Peter Gabriel.
Besides Mezzoforte and his Earth Affair project, Gulli has played with Madonne, Philip Catharine, Tony Smith, Michal Ball and many more.

GULLI ON SLAPKLATZ
“I carry the Slapklatz with me on tours always. Getting a great punchy sound is quick and effortless….very helpful when you have to play different kits in different countries. The gel-pads create a very precise dampening of overtones without sacrificing the feel. Great for the bottom heads too!”
